I have the honour to inform Your Lordship that an application has been received from the Hongkong and Whampoa Dock Company, Limited, for the area of land shown coloured red on the accompanying plan as an extension to their existing holdings. The Company is one of the most important ship-building and general engineering firms in Hongkong and the area of lmd they desire to acquire forms a natural ex- -tension to their premises which could not well be disposed of to others without unduly interfering with their future develop-

-manta.

2.

I recommend, therefore, that the Company be allowed to take up the area upon the following terms, public auction being dispensed with:-

(a). The lessees to surrender the existing Crown Leases

of Kowloon Marine Lots 28 and 26 when called upon

to do so by the Land Officer.

(b). The lessees to be granted a new Crow Lease to in-

-clude Kowloon Marine Lote 28 and 26 and the area

coloured red on plan, which contains about 111,690

square feat. The new lease to be for the same term

and to commence from the same date as the existing lease of Kowloon Marine Lot 28, namely,

999 years commencing from 5th August, 1871, which is the date

of commencement of lease of original portion of

Kowloon Marine Lot 28. The new lease to be subject

to

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
